Travel Into Space

      Provided with colorful surprise tickets by their teachers, the students of the 5th grade of PPMG "Acad. Ivan Tsenov" made a virtual journey into space. In front of their guests, Mrs. Rosenka Kabatliyska, senior expert in mother and foreign language, Mrs. Ani Georgieva, senior expert in natural sciences, Mrs. Tatiana Vasileva, director of the high school and Mrs. Veselka Valova, deputy, the fifth-graders shared their knowledge of the heavenly bodies in an interdisciplinary CLIL lesson in both Bulgarian and English.

      The lesson included an artistic workshop for which the leading teachers - Mrs. Ivalina Raykova, senior teacher of Natural Sciences and Mrs. Kalina Nikolova, senior teacher of English, had prepared a variety of hands-on tasks. The students worked in teams to visualise The Solar System, a solar eclipse, phases of the Moon, etc. While giving presentations of their outcomes they laid their explanations on the foundations of Science they had covered at school. The implementation of the CLIL approach ivlolved their knowledge and skills in English. 

       The lesson was held in two 5th-grade classes.
