INTERACTIVE BOOK READING

Today, phonological sensitivity, early literacy, interactive reading, and reading sensitivity are among the most talked about concepts in pre-school education / early childhood education. Interactive book reading practices are based on various changes in standard book reading behaviors. The basis of these changes is the change of roles of adults and children. In the standard book reading process, the adult is in the position of reading the book, and the child is the listener. In interactive book reading applications, the child learns to be a storyteller. While the adult assumes the role of being an active listener, the child learns new information by asking questions. As the child gains the role of the narrator of the story, the adult leaves the responsibility of storytelling to the child. First, the language of the books is more complex than the language used in daily life. For this reason, while reading together, the child encounters and learns new word and sentence structures. Secondly, during reading together, the child benefits from all the attention of the adult who reads, explains, and asks to ensure that the child understands and learns. makes it easier to encounter and learn
