Personal assessments (France)
The students were asked to answer and give details on the following questions/topics :
- What skills did you develop through the game’s conception and construction? ( creative, linguistic or relational skills…)
- What knowledge did you get while collaborating in the game making? (history, cultural, linguistic knowledge). What did you learn about yourself?
Most of the assessments showed that the students found they developed :
- their collaboration and communication skills, when having to work in teams or groups on the game’s orientation : whether with their fellow students or while cooperating with foreign partners, as leaders or mere participants. Some really learned how to find their place in a group and the communication and persuasion tools they had to develop. They also learned how to conduct a project from the very beginning until it’s completion.
- having to design the entire game required our students to get a few creative and digital skills : they used applications such as Canva+ to design their cards and Autocad or Tinkercad to 3D-print the pions and dices.
- as for their linguistic skills, all of them obviously found that they improved their ability to use the English language, as they had to communicate in English both at home and during the mobilities.
Concerning the knowledges they acquired, many of them found that :
-they learned both on the French History (Louis the XIV’s reign) and European History (for instance on personalities such as Riga’s Fereos or G.W. Leibniz, or on events that occurred in the 17th century in Europe).
- they of course had to find vocabulary to make and explain the board game, and therefore improved their knowledge in English.
- some of the students reported that the project enabled them to fight against their shyness or helped them to become more self-confident.
On the whole, all students were very enthusiastic about the year they had lived in this challenging Erasmus project.
To finish, the group was asked to work on a common creative feedback poster. They had to express themselves on their feelings about Erasmus. Here is what they made :
