Our board game activity - the steps
Mobilities:
Nasice / Croatia: 03. - 07.10.2022
Volos / Greece: 08. - 12.11.2022
Perugia / Italy: 06. - 10.03.2023
Ljubljana / Slovenia: 08. - 12.05.2023
=> AGENDA (planned / done)
Step 1 (local): done
- Students and teachers do research about so-called "cooperative (board) games".
- They try out one or more of them so that they can explain the rules and lead the game during the meeting in Našice.
- task done of the French and German team so that the results could be shared during step 2; the Greek and Slovenian team share their experience from a former board game creation, too
Step 2 (meeting in Croatia: beginning of October) done
- Two days of the meeting are reserved to the board game activity:
- students play some board games in international groups (e.g. Shadows over Camelot, Corsaro, Scotland Yard) Scotland Yard; Andor Junior
- students present moments / elements they liked best at that game (rules, strategies, gameboard, figures, cards etc.); we take notes so that we know what could be included in our common board games
our notes:
- all together we collect ideas what could be the „setting“ of our own board games
=> at the end of the meeting:
- students know several options for cooperative board games
- they have produced a list with ideas of possible settings together
- they collected material and even made small movies about the historical background (e.g. Dora Pejačević – her life, time and friends) that can be inserted into the game (e.g. via QR Code)
Step 3 (local: second half of October) done
- Students who have participated in C 5 present the results and list of rules, strategies, ... settings to their local groups.
- The local groups add more ideas for settings – for each setting one of the partner countries / partner regions should be the starting point (as we visited the ”Wattenmeer visitor centre” during C3, one of the settings could, e.g., deal with a group of international scientists who want to stop the plastic pollution of the oceans; or... let’s see what the students will come up with...)
- All ideas will be presented online (e.g. padlet).
- All students (video conference) will shortly present and discuss the ideas and decide which of the possible settings connected to a partner country they like best.
- In that way we will have six settings – each one having one of our partner countries as starting point – which we will work on during the next months in international teams.
Step 4 (meeting in Volos: beginning of November) done
- During the meeting in Volos we will use two days for the board game activity: together, we develop details for a board game „Greek mythology“ or „mythical creatures“ or … (whatever the result of step 3 is…)
Step 5 (multilateral online: December / January / February) done
but without TwinSpace
- Students will work together online in international groups,
using the TwinSpace (make sure that new Erasmus students are registered and introduced to the TwinSpace in time!). we couldn't use our former TwinSpace because it wasn't migrated yet to ESEP - Each international team (guided by one teacher) is responsible for ONE setting.
- The members of each team discuss and agree about rules, gameboard, strategies, figures etc.
- At the end of february all games must be prepared in details (prototypes; the figures can still be ordinary game pieces).
Step 6 (meeting in Perugia: first half of March) done
- In Perugia, two days are dedicated to the board game activity.
- The student teams who until now had been working online together now present their games to all participants of C7 (we have to make sure that at least ONE student of each team is present – indifferently what partner school he / she comes from)
All participants play at least two games of the partners; they give feed back what is good and what has to be improvedpostponed until step 8- We need a workshop about how to use a 3D printer / an introduction to the program we have to use.
- Our Slovenian colleague will carry out this workshop for us (thank you!!) as the board game activity and the 3D printing activity originally was his idea
- The workshop can also be carried out online before the meeting if this seems better to us. we had links to online tutorials before and a workshop during the meeting
Step 7 (local: March / April, depending on the holidays in each country) done
- After the meeting each local groups designs and programs the figures for ONE of the board games.
Step 8 (meeting in Ljubljana: first half of May) done
- Each school brings one physical game to Ljubljana.
- All board games are ready to be played.
- We celebrate our common products by playing, enjoying, having a small ceremony.
Step 9 (local: until the Erasmus days in October) !in progress!
- Thanks to ICT and 3D printing the board games and their utensils can be duplicated for each partner school.
- Each school presents the board games at a special occasion (e.g. parents evening, open day - according to the individual programme of our schools).
- We share pictures of these events on the TwinSpace.
- We will play these games in October 2023 during the Erasmus days and in May 2024 during the eTwinning days.
- They will also get a place in our school libraries or at another suitable place so that we make sure that our schools can continue using our project results of our third (originally: first) project year.
