Messy play- Sensory games
INNOVATIVE LEARNING METHODS
Partners during the first two months (November & December) had the opportunity to use Messy Play & Sensory Games as a way to learn about themselves and interact with others.
Messy Play is a form of autonomous play where students use materials that trigger their senses to explore and discover their environment (Gascoyne, 2019). Through experiments, students learn in their own way and time, while interacting with different items (Montessori, 2013). This free use of ingredients supports also the development of communication and collaboration competencies, as it provides the frame to express creatively and connect with other members (Brickman & Taylor, 1991).
