EARTH IS OUR HOME, LET'S PROTECT IT!

PROJECT REPORT

The project was founded in November by 2 founding partners. 17 partners were completed with 162 students. The project includes joint activities to raise awareness among students about the importance of exhibiting ecological behavior to protect the environment. The activities carried out are based on games and other age-specific activities, adapted to the age of the children.

With this project, it is aimed to provide children with responsible behaviors towards the protection of the environment from a young age. Knowing both the beneficial and harmful effects of human activities on the environment, children will be able to develop appropriate attitudes and behaviour.

By collaborating and taking others as an example, children gained skills and abilities related to selective recycling, environmental protection, as well as communication and social relations skills.

The partners involved in the project will cooperate in selecting and adapting activities suitable for the age level of the children and in achieving the aim of the project. Working meetings among the project members were held monthly to disseminate the results achieved so far and to decide on the next activities.

 

Members joined the project in November. Necessary parent permission documents were obtained for the project, and Twinspace was uploaded to the relevant page.

In December, teachers introduced themselves, prepared videos promoting their place of residence, prepared visuals promoting their schools and students, and the Twinspace was uploaded to the relevant page. The student pre-survey was prepared and applied, the readiness of the students for the project was observed, the survey application was uploaded to the Twinspace related page. The teachers designed the project logo, the survey was opened with the logos, the students participated in the survey and the project logo was selected, the Twinspace was uploaded to the relevant page.

In January, Seed Bank (Piggy Bank) activities were held, such as planting seeds in bottles and creating a vegetable garden in the classroom, turning plastic waste into flower pots, and fruit seeds from snacks. As a common product, the letters of the project name were shared among the partners, each teacher had their students paint the relevant letters, one of our teachers combined all the letters to reveal the common product, the Twinspace was uploaded to the relevant page. The teachers wrote activities for February, the activities were voted on with a survey and the February activities were decided, Twinspace has been uploaded to the relevant page.

 

In February, plants were germinated, musical instruments were made from waste materials, the game was prepared for the safe internet day on February 7 and the students were played, the Twinspace was uploaded to the relevant page. Game design was made with the materials now, each teacher was 1 game. The designed games were uploaded to the digital book, the teachers played their own games. students played it, uploaded their photos to the book, Twinspace was uploaded to the relevant page. A mind map was created for the title of the book, each teacher wrote their idea there. A survey was created with the ideas written in the mind map. The name of the book was decided by the result of this survey, Twinspace was uploaded to the relevant page. and used in events. The teachers wrote the activities for March, the written activities were voted with a survey and the activities for March were decided, the Twinspace was uploaded to the relevant page.

 

In March, bird feeders were created and hung outside, hand or finger puppets were created with leftover materials, puppets were made to talk, children were created avatars with Bitmoji and spoken phrases about the climate crisis with Chatterpix, 22 March 2023 World Water Day: "Blue planet Earth" - conserving water Posters were prepared to draw attention to the need for protection and protection, and they were uploaded to the Twinspace related page. As a joint product, each teacher sent a student video from the videos prepared about the climate crisis, one of our teachers combined all the videos and revealed the common product "Messages from Our Children to the World", Twinspace was uploaded to the relevant page. The teachers wrote the activities for April, the written activities were voted by a survey and the April activities were decided, the Twinspace was uploaded to the relevant page.

 

In April, the students prepared an ecological slogan and walked around the school and the school garden with these slogans, raising awareness and disseminating the project. With the outdoor garbage hunt activity, they found and marked the objects in the table in the garden, and at the end, the graphic was created with the minimum maximum instructions. The fabrics were now decorated, recycled and bags were made. Coloring pages were prepared on the 22nd April Water Day, the students completed the painting and the importance of water was emphasized by the unnecessary use of water. they held various activities related to it, all activities were uploaded to the related page of Twinspace. The teachers wrote the events for the month of May, the written activities were voted by a survey and the activities for the month of May were decided, the Twinspace was uploaded to the relevant page.

 

In May, students prepared images of the Earth. Students showed the images of the world to each other at the online student meeting. The common song was determined and the students danced together at the online student meeting, the Twinspace was uploaded to the relevant page. Online teacher meetings were held throughout the project process. The last teacher meeting was held in May. Student and teacher made project evaluation surveys, Twinspace was uploaded to the relevant page. A virtual exhibition was held as the final product of the project. All teachers sent the project activity visuals they selected to a teacher and our teacher created the virtual exhibition summarizing the project activities, Twinspace was uploaded to the relevant page. Our teachers chose students, teachers, parents, administrators, shot project evaluation videos and uploaded them to the relevant page of Twinspace.

Dissemination efforts were made through ways such as Facebook, Instagram, blog, school website news, school board, eTwinning magazine, slogan walk.

Parent permission documents were obtained at the beginning of the project, students' faces were covered and shared, student names were hidden, an online game was prepared and played as part of the 9 February safe internet day celebration activities, and Twinspace was uploaded to the relevant page.

 

According to the results of the student project evaluation survey:

• 157 students recognize the project logo, 5 students do not,

• 156 students liked to participate in the project, 5 students did not like it, 1 student did not answer,

• The 3 most popular project activities: designing fabric shopping bags, making musical instruments, gardening from plastic waste,

• 135 students want to participate in a project again, there may be 24 students, 3 students do not want to participate.

It has been observed that the project targets have been achieved with a rate of over 90%. It has been observed that the students now want to recycle the materials.

The main expected result of the project is the formation of responsible behaviors among children, creating a behavior routine that will last for years at school level, creating common products to remind students of expected positive behaviors and motivating them, supporting different development areas of students, not being able to blend different types of activities, making students a part of the whole. provided.
