Analysis of Initial Student Questionnaire Results
A total of 133 students across various educational levels participated in the initial questionnaire. Below is a detailed analysis of the responses:
Question 1: Gender
- Female: 52.6% (70 participants)
- Male: 47.4% (63 participants)
- Analysis: The sample is very well-balanced, with a nearly 1:1 ratio between boys and girls. This ensures that the project's feedback is not gender-biased.
Question 2: Which class do you attend?
- Primary School: 71.4%
- Pre-school: 25.6%
- Lower Secondary/Secondary: 3%
- Analysis: The project is overwhelmingly populated by younger students (97% are in Primary or Pre-school). Activities should be designed to be visual, playful, and age-appropriate for children aged 4–12.
Question 3: What do you expect from this project?
- To have a fantastic eTwinning experience: 54.9%
- To meet new classmates: 39.1%
- Other/Minority answers: 6%
- Analysis: Most students are looking for the "experience" and the "social" aspect of the project. This suggests that live meetings or collaborative tasks will be very popular.
Question 4: Are you excited to learn about coding through the ' Coding the Future- Small Programmers for a Big Change ' project?
- A lot: 57.9%
- Enough: 39.8%
- A little: 2.3%
- Analysis: General excitement for the specific project remains very high, matching the interest in the topic of coding itself.
Question 5:Do you think learning about coding will be fun and interesting?
- A lot: 60.2%
- Enough: 38.3%
- A little/Not at all: 1.5%
- Analysis: There is massive enthusiasm for the core subject (Coding). 98.5% of the students have a positive predisposition toward the learning material.
Question 6: Have you ever participated in an eTwinning project before?
- Yes: 50.4%
- No: 49.6%
Analysis: There is a perfect split between "veterans" and "newcomers." This is a great opportunity for peer-to-peer mentoring, where experienced students can help those who are using the platform for the first time.
- Question 7: Are you excited to participate in this project with students from other countries?
- A lot: 63.2%
- Enough: 34.6%
- A little/Not at all: 2.2%
- Analysis: The international dimension is one of the strongest motivators. The students are highly interested in the "global classroom" feel of eTwinning.
Question 8: Do you want to commit to the success of this project?
- Yes: 74.4%
- No: 25.6%
- Analysis: While the majority are committed, 1 out of 4 students expressed hesitation or said "No." This might be due to the younger age of some participants (Pre-schoolers) who may not fully understand the concept of "commitment," or it could signal a need for more motivational activities early on.
Summary
The project starts with very high engagement levels. Most students are excited about coding and international collaboration. Given that nearly half the participants are new to eTwinning, the project serves as a significant entry point for them. The primary target group is clearly young children (Pre-school and Primary), which should guide the complexity of the coding activities.
