On the third day, Professor Candida Rocha continued her presentation
of "Measures to mitigate climate change and measures to adapt to climate
change", explaining that the fossil fuels we use every day are the
result of 3.5 billion years of activity by photosynthetic organisms that
deposited CO2 from the atmosphere into the soil.
In 300,000 years, the human species has returned most of the CO2 to the
atmosphere and continues to do so at an exponential rate.
Along with the consumption of fossil fuels, deforestation and pollution
of the oceans, which are natural collectors of CO2, are an additional
aggravating circumstance.
In order to slow down the mentioned process, it is necessary to implement
measures of mitigation and adaptation to climate change.
Mitigation measures refer to the application of green technologies that
reduce CO2 production (eg use of renewable energy sources, greening of
surfaces, filtration of greenhouse gases, electrification of vehicles).
Adaptation measures serve to mitigate the consequences of climate change
and to facilitate human life in such conditions (eg early warning systems,
creation of water supplies, construction resistant to extreme climatic
conditions).
The second presentation "Digital Solutions" was held by Professor Tomaz Saraiva.
The presentation was about the use of free digital tools - h5p (www.h5p.org) for
formative evaluation of course participants.
The participants were divided into teams within which they had to design
tasks for formative evaluation using digital tools. They published the
results on a common Padlet, which they tested the next day.
