*BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:
This project aims to make children understand the importance of pollinating insects for biodiversity and for human life and teach some good practices for safeguard these insects. Introduce children to the wonderful world of bees, the importance that this magnificent insect has for the balance of nature, the goodness of its people products and the beneficial effect they produce for our body. Through this path in the world of nature one would like to take a small step towards awareness of the importance of approaching it, of understanding it and respecting it. In a world more and more "virtual" and disconnected from reality, it seems important to recover this contact that leads to the essence of things and brings back to a dimension of harmony with everything that surrounds us, where everything works if there is respect, justice and love for nature and the human being.
"If the bee disappeared from the face of the earth, man would only have four years left life ”Albert Einstein
*AIMS AND PURPOSES
What is the objective / s of the project? What result (s) do you intend to achieve?
PURPOSE:
Know the morphological structure and characteristics of bees. Know the behaviors, the living environment and the society of bees. Learn about bee products. The role of these insects in biodiversity and environmental protection.
TARGETS:
observe natural phenomena and living organisms, develop curiosity and exploration, use appropriate language to describe observations and experiences.
CURRICULAR AND CROSS-CURRICULAR INTEGRATION
Which subjects, and their respective teachers, will be involved in working together? What part of the school curriculum will be deepened and developed? Will participation in project activities be taken into account for pupil evaluation purposes? What skills do you intend to develop?
The project is aimed at pupils of kindergarten and primary school. The subjects of in-depth study are: science, technology and civic education. They are fundamental the collaboration and contribution from all teachers. As foreseen by the science programming, children study the reproduction of plants and insects pollinators; invertebrate animals and their environment. In technology we will treat the products of bees (honey, propolis and beeswax) and their use. With civic education we will address issues useful for reducing pollution by changing your lifestyle; nutrition education: principles for a healthy diet. The use of honey in the kitchen.
*WORK PROCEDURE (organization of activities, pupil involvement, calendar and roles)
Explain how you intend to work with partner schools and how you intend to share responsibilities. Provide a rough schedule of activities, indicate how often you will be working with your partner, how you intend to involve pupils, and whether you intend to build pupils from different schools and other relevant information.
Once the project has been created, the forum will be opened in the TwinSpace to accept proposals and suggestions from colleagues who join the activities. A first will be organized a meeting for the presentation of the partners and the project. The frequency of meetings with partners will be monthly.
The pupils will actively participate in the TwinSpace and there will be meetings between the various classes.
Activities calendar:
February:
- compilation of the pages of the TwinSpace relating to the partners section;
- meeting to define together the tasks of each one.
- preparation of the project logo;
- preparation of an introductory video to present the project to partners and parents;
- collection of releases for photos and videos.
March:
- direct observation and collection of material (photos and drawings) on bees and flowers.
- Watching a documentary on biodiversity and the role of bees in the ecosystem.
April / May:
- creation of small manual works with beeswax and greeting cards for the party of the mother;
- April 22: World Earth Day
- May 22: World Biodiversity Day
- Honey on the table: tasting of various types of honey and exchange of recipes of typical dishes with partners.
Final week:
- children, teachers and parents will be provided with an evaluation questionnaire;
- final products.
COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION
How often will you keep in touch? What tools do you plan to use? How do you intend to favor the direct or mediated interaction of the pupils with their peers?
Eg. Videoconferences, chats, exchange of materials, comments / posts, forums, work in mixed groups, "cross" tasks (children from one country integrate or complete the work of others, or answer their questions, prepare the tasks of others, comment or correct the products of others …)
A whatsapp group will be set up for immediate and more effective communication.
The twinspace forum will be used to make concrete proposals regarding the activities and to carry out surveys on the meetings between teachers (one every 2 weeks) and among children (at least one every 3 weeks).
INVOLVEMENT OF THE SCHOOL AND THE LOCAL COMMUNITY
Who do you intend to involve in the project?
You intend to provide for the involvement of external experts or other subjects of the local community such as local authorities, private sponsors, libraries, museums, associations, etc.
How, if applicable, do you intend to involve the parents and family members of the pupils, other teachers and students of your schools?
One could think of inviting a beekeper to class to learn more about his work and to illustrate to the children the main notions related to the world of bees.
*EXPECTED RESULTS, EVALUATION, DOCUMENTATION AND DISSEMINATION
What results do you expect? How do you plan to evaluate the project activities?
Here are some possible examples:
Appreciation and self-evaluation by students and teachers
Evaluation of the impact of the project on the development of students' skills
Reflection on the difficulties encountered, on the strengths and weaknesses of the project
How do you plan to document the activities of the project? Not only the final results but also the project activities and the organization of ongoing work. How do you intend to disseminate the results of the project?
Here are some possible examples:
Making public some parts of the TwinSpace (or other working tool used)
Using the project sheet and submitting the project to the Quality Certificate
By publishing the results and the link to the TwinSpace on the schools' websites
Creation of an eTwinning Corner at school
Presentation of the results to the class council, during a school event
The verification tests will be diversified according to the class, the following will be proposed:
Vignettes of incorrect or correct behavior
Questionnaires
Written productions
Drawings, illustrated sketches
Multiple choice test
At the end of the school year, the teacher will arrange special verification sheets through which she will be able to assess, on a theoretical level, the degree of learning of the pupils. In the project the school bodies, teachers and parents of the pupils are involved in a concrete and constant way, through meetings aimed at creating a didactic and behavioral continuation that accompanies the child in all his moments of road experience, both in the school and in the family.
We hope that the results are as concrete and measurable as possible, but we also expect them
long-term results:
Competition of logos and posters.
Creation of a blog, a pearltrees and a website.
Realization of the video tutorial on the rules of the Internet, combining the ideas of all countries.
Guide to teaching best practices for teachers.
Improvement of language skills (English as a foreign language).
Improvement of social awareness.
Direct involvement of a selected (disadvantaged) target of students.
We will evaluate the project activities through:
Assessment and self-assessment by students and teachers
Evaluation of the impact of the project on the development of students' skills
Reflection on the difficulties encountered, on the strengths and weaknesses of the project
To document the project activities and to disseminate the results of the activities, we will deal with:
Make parts of the TwinSpace public
Using the project form and submitting the project to the Quality Certificate
Publication of the results and the link to the TwinSpace on the school websites
Creation of an eTwinning corner at school
Present the results to the class / interclass council.
USE OF ICT TOOLS
Will the TwinSpace tools be sufficient or do you think it will be useful to use external tools as well? Which tools for which project activities? Do you think they are appropriate for all planned activities? What added value can they guarantee?
Which pages of the TwinSpace do you intend to leave public and which private?
Do you have permission to upload photos and videos of pupils to the internet? Do you need to prepare an authorization form?
The tools available in TwinSpace will suffice.
Authorization from parents, teachers and Headmaster for sharing material (papers, photos and videos) will be requested (on a specific form provided by the school). It will be uploaded in the Materials Section of the TwinSpace, like everything that is produced by the pupils.
The tools used will be: the pages and folders for collecting material on the TwinSpace, the Padlets, the forums on the platform.
Some parts of the project will be made public in the diary or on the portal of the Institutes, however the publication of photos or videos showing the identity of the participants is not expected (pupils will be filmed from behind and any faces will be obscured).
