What is Safer Internet Day?

Safer Internet Day is a special day when people all around the world talk about how to use the internet safely. It started in Europe in 2004 and now more than 180 countries celebrate it!

What's it all about?

Every year, Safer Internet Day focuses on different topics like:

* Being kind online

* Using social media safely

* Protecting your personal information

Who helps make it happen?

Special groups called Safer Internet Centres work in many countries. They:

* Teach people about online safety

* Help if you have problems online

* Listen to what kids and teens think about the internet

Why is it important?

Safer Internet Day helps:

* Kids learn to use the internet in fun and safe ways

* Parents and teachers know how to guide children online

* Everyone work together to make the internet better for everyone

Remember, staying safe online is important every day, not just on Safer Internet Day!

Safer Internet Day (SID) in 2025 will take place on Tuesday 11 February, with a theme of “Together for a better internet”
