Assessment 3

Results from Assessment-3 Page 10.5

We assessed the work we started in January-February. From the West we moved to the South, but first, we got the results of the International poll to choose our final logo, we illustrated our partners' poems with AI, we completed some Comp@ss vibes to celebrate Safer Internet Day (SID) with a final survey about Well-being and Technology and and an outdoor activity. We celebrated spring was coming and had a rest during the spring holidays. Now, we are close to the farewell and the summer holidays.

Anselmo de Andrade, Almada, PT

Comp@ss was an extraordinary opportunity for students from different places and origins to come together as global citizens bringing diversity and uniqueness to the project. Regardless of their different geographical coordinates, the project has contributed to students' personal growth allowing them to 'travel' without ever leaving Almada', quoting a student.  'It was a long journey, but a worthwhile one, making me stronger and more resilient', added another one.
Students were bound to share their opinions, solve problems, collaborate, interact, communicate, and create, making this experience a true quest ‘in finding our true direction in life and fostering personal growth and fulfilment’.
For most students, it is the end of a chapter in their lives that they will never forget. Being a better individual, learning about other cultures and traditions, and gaining more awareness about the world we live in, including their surroundings, were rated as important gains of the project. In this regard, they pointed out the activities raising awareness of environmental and social issues as well as the impact of technology on well-being. One student voiced, ‘Thanks to this project I was able to develop my critical sense and my ability to reflect on current issues and enrich my knowledge about other forms of learning.’ Additionally, they also valued the English language improvement and confidence in international communication.

Comp@ss was the first eTwinning project for most of our students and all of them think that it was an enjoyable and enriching experience. Students consider that they have developed several competences, especially, communication skills in English, collaboration skills, team work, creativity, research skills and problem solving. Most of them felt comfortable with the PBL methodology and the dynamics of the process. The only drawback I would remark is that the new platform has not been reliable and friendly, especially during the first months of the project, and that is why students felt a bit reluctant to use the TwinSpace. Fortunately, teachers in the project have solved all the obstacles and the project aims have been successfully achieved.

Students felt comfortable working with their partners and they have enjoyed the project a lot. All of my students have participated in the live-sessions with their partners and they have valued this experience very positively. Going West, they have done an excellent job with the Technology and Wellbeing survey, that has had a big number of participants and a great impact on our school community. Going South, they have learnt new things with the Earth Day Quizzes and have loved sharing pictures of our city and region with their peers.

I would highlight our contributions to the Comp@ss Diary, an excellent opportuniy for students to express themselves freely, to reflect on their life and to learn from others.

"I have actively participated in the project doing all the activities and I have enjoyed it very much". Yago

"I think I have done a pretty good job this semester and I have had a lot of fun doing all the activities. I learned a lot about other countries  and the people there. I have put a lot of effort on all the activities and tried my best". Alejandra

Comp@ss presented an exceptional chance for students hailing from diverse locations and backgrounds to unite as global citizens, contributing a blend of diversity and distinctiveness to the endeavor. The students were interconnected in sharing their viewpoints, resolving issues, cooperating, engaging, communicating, and generating, thereby transforming this experience into an authentic quest 'to discover our authentic path in life and cultivate personal growth and fulfillment.'For most students, this marks the conclusion of a chapter in their lives that will forever remain etched in their memories. The project yielded several significant gains, including personal growth as individuals, acquiring knowledge about diverse cultures and traditions, and cultivating a heightened awareness of the world in which we reside, encompassing their immediate environment. They emphasized activities that fostered consciousness regarding environmental and social concerns, as well as the influence of technology on well-being.

Koldo Mitxelena

The beginning of the Comp@ss project was hard and complicated. When we started the project, we were really worried about the platform, and we were a little reluctant to use it because everything around it was uncertain and unreliable. However, contrary to initial expectations, the students' enthusiasm lit us up.

At Koldo Mitxelena, we are constantly seeking to apply active learning methodologies that directly involve students in the learning and decision-making processes. Thanks to this eTwinning project, we have been able to work on the new Basque curriculum for 2022-2023, which implied adding a new competence like mediation and updating others like communication and cultivating intercultural competence.

For most of my students, it was new to work on a project that lasts a whole school year with international students. In this third assessment and self-reflection, students wished we had had more time for more live sessions, which are always successful. They mentioned they liked creating the questionnaire about well-being and technology and then analysing it within their international teams.

We also worked together with the biology, history, economics, physics, and English teachers before presenting our findings to our partners when we were “Going South”. We went outdoors to learn about our neighbourhood, Zaramaga, and worked on the SDGs interdisciplinary. We carried out interviews in the park to learn about the changes that the neighbours had experienced, which they kindly explained to us. We took pictures, presented SWAT analysis, learned the history of our working-class neighbourhood and understood the European funding programme for urban regenerations. Therefore, most of them said that going outdoors and involving other subjects was a great idea since they prepared the podcasts of the sites they wanted to present to their partners from a wider perspective.

The project was nice and very interesting; I had never done anything like this before. We went outside to get to know the history of how our neighbourhood  andVitoria-Gasteiz were created. We have done podcasts, and we have chatted with students from other countries! I learned a lot of things, and I want to thank my teacher for her hard work and the final products of this awesome project. I wouldn’t change anything about the project; it has a perfect structure, and I believe that the following students should take part in it. A. Z.

This term I have enjoyed this project a lot, and the activities we had completed this time have been my favourite ones. For this reason, I believe that I have taken part more actively and that I have contributed much more. While working on this project, I have experienced that we have learned how to express ourselves more fluently when we talked about facts about nature and global environment, information about our surroundings and neighbourhood, etc. Moreover, I have learned some new facts about technology, its safety, and that there is a day to celebrate “Safer Internet Day”. Apart from that, we had made video calls with other students from other countries, practising our communication skills while sharing experiences and opinions with each other. In conclusion, I truly believe that working on this project not only enables you to practise English, but it also gives you the opportunity to learn other skills useful for your daily life and to have new experiences. I.B.

All the activities in the projects we have done have been very interesting and different from all the things we were used to doing.  Talking with people from any country in Europe has been an incredible experience, and it is something you do once in your life. I found it very interesting to learn about the lives of people all over the world and their daily routines. Furthermore, we have learned about the pros and cons of using the internet and social media, and there are a lot of things we didn’t know. Creating and analysing the questionnaire was very helpful to see and learn how people use technology. Apart from that, we went out to learn about our neighbourhood, Zaramaga. I believe that those walks were extremely interesting, and we really enjoyed learning what happened in the past and how we have changed since then. Learning the history of our city is important, and the chance we had is something that we have to appreciate more. K.E.O.

Obchodní akademie Tábor

Final activities belonged among very popular as they included games and quizzes on top of catching topics of Safer Internet and the Earth. The students enjoyed playing Bamboozle on copyright and online behaviour. One group read articles on well-being and prepared question for the common questionnaire, which we filled in later on. Following activities were based on learning about the Earth and our neighbourhood. the students explored the town of Tábor, posted photos of interesting places and decided to transfer interesting sights of their partners to Tábor. This activity involved a lot of interaction, creativity, working with online tools (Padlet, Mosaically and Giphy).

"I enjoyed going South most. We learned a lot of interesting informations about nature from quizzes. It was also very interesting activity for me. Also I enjoyed sharing pictures with people from other countries. I choosed two photos, one from Poland and second from Italy. I took these photos to Tábor." Jana

South was an excellent destination for the ICT class. Celebration of the Safer Internet Day and sessions about copyright, pros and cons of the web were activities absolutely embed in the ICT curriculum and in the frame of the project were meaningful and through the games and the jamboards very interactive, inspiring and enjoyable.

The celebration of the Earth Day with the quizzes and the follow up discussion on the dedicated padlet was an excellent starting point for students to work on canva for posters ("significant women in the eco movement") The last part where the students were reporters on their own place (photos and podcasts) and creating gifs with the partners' photos and arranging these gifs on a map on our area was also an activity that the students had enjoyed very much. The farewell video and the linked activity was an opportunity for a collaborative activity among the classes (C5 and C4a) that participated in the project, preparing the scenario of the video and working on #D design in tinkercad and printing a compass rose.

"I’m really keen on the fact that i learned about copyright. In addition, i fancy the quizzes we’ve done about Earth Day and the information i learned from it."(Efthymia, C4a)

"This section I believed served a purpose in making us appreciate the town we live in, while also teaching us a handful of tools that we can use down the line." (Orestis, C5a)

"This year’s project has been really good.Almost everyone in my class participated but i sure did!! The photo project was the best!"(Achilleas, C4a)

"I really enjoyed the activities we did about the safer internet day. I also found exciting how we had to take pictures of our town and introduce it to the other schools with using vocaroo."(Yakinthi, C5b)

This year among ninth grade students, the most enjoyable part of my lessons was etwinnging. They really like to take part in the activities and fullfilling the tasks. Going south activities were also fun for them. They participated the activities of Safe Internet day. They shared the pictures of our city.

Going SOUTH was another part of the project that Polish students enjoyed a lot. They said, thanks to the Earth quizzes they learnt a lot; the activities on SID 2023 were not only informative but also enjoyable. They collaborated well when contributed to Mozaically by sharing photos, preparing podcasts and then – creating gifs. They supported each other a lot when using all the new ICT tools. The classes during which the Comp@ss project activities were conducted were the ones I, as an English teacher, appreciate the most as I can see my students engaged, actively participating, creating great things while talking a lot (explaining, suggesting, finding solutions, negotiating, etc – in general – interacting a lot) – learning English in such a practical way is always a good idea.

I think my commitment was very high. I did every task with a smile and gave everything back on time. In each lesson of the project, I immediately performed all the tasks without any problems. I think I should get a 6 because I gave a lot of myself. In my opinion, we should have more conversations with other students because it is a very fun and creative activity that I like the most. /Klaudia/

I really enjoyed participating in the Comp@ass project. I’ve done every task we had to do and I’ve always remembered about it.  I tried my best while doing different activites. I really enjoyed cooperation with students from different countries. I think I deserve 95% because as I said, I had done every task on time and I had put so much effort into it. I don’t think that I would change anything in this project because in my opinion it’s perfect. /Julia/
