Teaching Robotics and Coding
Prepare your students for the future by teaching them the language of technology. This beginner-friendly course introduces the fundamentals of robotics and coding for the classroom. You'll get hands-on experience with popular educational tools and learn how to integrate these vital STEM skills into any subject.
Description
Coding is the literacy of the 21st century. This course is a beginner-friendly, hands-on introduction to teaching robotics and coding, designed specifically for K-12 educators with little to no prior experience. We demystify the world of programming and provide you with the confidence and resources to bring these essential STEM skills to your students.
You will work with popular, low-cost educational robotics kits and block-based coding platforms. Learn how to plan engaging, project-based lessons that integrate coding concepts into math, science, and even art. Prepare your students for the future and unlock their potential as creators, not just consumers, of technology.
Learning objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the fundamental concepts of coding (like algorithms, loops, and conditionals) in a beginner-friendly context.
- Gain hands-on experience programming educational robots using block-based coding platforms.
- Design and facilitate project-based robotics lessons that integrate STEM concepts.
- Develop problem-solving and computational thinking activities for students of various age groups.
- Create an action plan for introducing a coding or robotics club/program in their school.
Methodology & assessment
The trainer acts as a facilitator for discovery and problem-solving. Assessment is based on the successful completion of the programming challenges and a final robotics project. No prior experience is needed. All participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
Materials, digital tools & other learning resources
All necessary robotics kits and software licenses for the duration of the course are provided. This is a hands-on, BYOD (Bring Your Own Device - laptop) course. Participants will receive a digital resource pack with coding tutorials, project guides, and links to free, block-based coding platforms to use with their students. A list of recommended low-cost robotics kits for schools will also be provided.
Certification details
Upon successful completion of the course, all participants will receive a formal Certificate of Attendance from Erasmus Mobility Academy. The certificate will officially state: the participant's full name, the full course title, the course dates and location, the main topics covered, and the total number of educational hours (25 hours), corresponding to this application form. The document will be signed by the head trainer and will serve as proof of participation for the Erasmus+ Programme.
