Description

Participants explore what AI literacy entails, how it connects to existing digital, media, and other literacies, and why it is becoming an essential component of nowadays education. Through comparison and analysis of few AI Literacy frameworks, the course clarifies the key knowledge, skills, and attitudes students need to engage meaningfully and responsibly with AI technologies.

A strong focus is placed on ethical, social, and emotional dimensions, helping teachers to understand how AI shapes learners' experiences, wellbeing, and society at large. Participants learn how to support and assess students' achievements in AI Literacy across various school subjects. By the end of the course, participants will be able to map AI Literacy competences onto their own curriculum and create action plans for integration in teaching and assessment.

Learning objectives

  • Explain what AI literacy is, how it connects to existing literacies, and why it is essential for students’ education.
  • Interpret and analyse few AI Literacy Frameworks to identify the knowledge, skills, and attitudes students need.
  • Evaluate ethical, social, and emotional dimensions of AI use and incorporate responsible, human-centric approaches into teaching.
  • Analyse how to map and integrate AI Literacy competences across different school subjects and curriculums.
  • Design action plan to support students achieving AI Literacy competences and assess their achievements.

Methodology & assessment

The course is offered as an asynchronous course with flexibility in regard to when and where participants follow the course content and join the course activities. Modules open each week and remain open for the duration of the course, with a final deadline in place for the submission of a course product. Participants are required to actively contribute to the course activities by sharing their work and submitting a course product. This product is submitted, and peer assessed by three peers in the final module of the course.

Certification details

Upon successful completion of the course, a digital course certificate is awarded. The certificate shows the name of the learner and key course details such as the estimated learning hours, the learning objectives, and a link to the course homepage.
