More than 1.75 billion people speak English worldwide – that's around 1 in 4 people around the world. English is being used more and more as a way for two speakers with different first languages to communicate with each other, as a 'lingua franca'. We carry out this project with the objective of informing and entertaining people about the achievements,culture and history of the English language. Language plays a big role in shaping cultural and social attitudes. We set up various events and many activities,such as literature and poetry exchanges, book-reading activities,English quizzes and other activities to support the promotion of the language.
