Learning in History Museums - valuing our legacy and continuity

Nowadays history museums are very special cultural places conceived and adapted to create conditions for experiential learning in pleasant and interactive ways. Organising visits and activities in the museum fields can influence the intellectual, volitional and emotional development of the children's personalities, the way in which their self-concept and national identity is formed and expressed. We aim through this project to enhance the investigative competences of the students, encouraging them to practice new learning strategies for searching, memorizing, processing historical and cultural information such as: inquiry, critical thinking, solving problems, active involvement, collaborative communication and project building, by setting learning frames in museums - as community centers for sharing and co-producing knowledge. If our very short pilot project becomes a joyful intercultural learning experience and leads to sharing our joy of (self)discovering, we have a start.
