PAPER STORİES

Origami is a word formed by the combination of the words ori and kami in Japanese. Ori means folding; kami means paper. Origami is a phenomenon that can be called an art in a way made with paper folding process. Currier (2015) states in his study that origami supports conceptual learning, vocabulary building and problem solving. Over time, origami has become a versatile tool thanks to its relationships with different disciplines. It is used both in education and in scientific and artistic research, contributing to the emergence of new ideas and solutions in different fields. In other words, we can use the world-famous art of Origami as a new hobby, as a tool to reveal our own art, as well as a learning material and a way to express emotions. One of the other uses of origami is storytelling applications. Story-gami is a creative activity that combines storytelling and origami art. This concept involves using foldable papers to tell a story using origami techniques. With Story-gami, stories are brought to life in a visual way and participants are encouraged to create their own stories using their imagination. Story-gami offers both a visual and narrative experience by combining origami and storytelling. This project aims to introduce students to both the art of origami and the concept of story gami (origami combined with storytelling). The planned activities aim to offer a new storytelling experience by both preserving the traditional structure of origami art and combining it with modern technologies. It allows students to develop their creativity and storytelling skills while at the same time supporting their manual dexterity and patience.
