Conflict, war, continuing economic and social injustice, force millions of people from their homes every year. Refugee, Immigrant or Asylum Seeker... Whatever name they are called, they all set out with the hope of a new life. Especially over the last half century, the world has witnessed mass migration movements, with migration from the East to the West the most striking. Although mostly for economic reasons, the main driving force for migration is the preservation of life due to war. Turkey, seen as the key to Europe and the Mediterranean, is one of the places where their paths cross. Almost 5.5 million people come to Turkey from many countries, especially Syria, Afghanistan and Iran. Of these, 3 million 700 thousand are registered Syrians under temporary protection.
