Release notes

Here you will find a list of the European School Education Platform releases since 2026.

We summarise the new features, improvements, bug fixes and other changes that were introduced in each release. Given the frequent nature of these changes, the release notes are only available in English and via eTranslation.

Release 9.0 – 26 August 2026

Groups

Groups become the platform’s single collaboration space.

The Group creation experience has been simplified and modernised, making it quicker and more intuitive to create a Group:

  • Choose only the collaboration features you need. You can update these choices later by adding or hiding features when editing your Group.
  • Your contacts can now be invited directly during Group creation.
  • The approval process is more transparent, with clear information on status, timing and notifications.

Rooms

To reduce confusion between Groups and Rooms, Rooms are being discontinued as Groups become the platform’s single collaboration space. The option to create new Rooms will be removed, and existing Rooms will be discontinued in a future release.

During the transition, a temporary message will appear on Room pages to inform users about the change.

Roles in TwinSpaces and Groups

Changes have been made to roles in TwinSpaces and Groups:

Groups:

  •  Regular Members and Experts can no longer manage pages.

TwinSpaces:

  • Pupils and Pupil administrators can no longer see the online meetings and chatroom.
  • Teachers can no longer manage the Teacher Bulletin (edit, delete or change the order of other members’ posts).

Other changes

When searching for your organisation on the ‘Join organisation’ page, the most relevant results now include the town, making it easier to identify the correct one.

Release 8.0 – 29 July 2026

Registration

We’ve updated the registration process. The new flow is shorter, simpler, clearer and more intuitive. The key improvements are:

  • A more intuitive layout with clear, concise guidance: the different steps are displayed on separate pages, with short supporting text explaining what users need to do.
  • Better information about account types and roles: revised wording and concise explanations help users understand each option and choose the one that best matches their situation.
  • Improved organisation search: users can search using their national school ID, an Erasmus+ Organisation ID (OID) or a city, view the most relevant results and refine their search to narrow down the list.
  • A more transparent validation process: the confirmation page shows which National Support Organisation (NSO) is responsible for validating the account, outlines the validation steps and provides the estimated review time.
  • One-step registration for non-eTwinning users: a Light account can be created in a single step to join European Commission courses or use the Erasmus+ partner search.

Check our support guide to learn more about the new registration process.

Adopting the European Commission design system

We’ve started implementing the Europa Component Library, the official design system for the European Commission’s digital presence. This work is ongoing and will continue in future releases.

Online Meetings

A new version of Online Meetings is now available and includes several new features and improvements:

  • See all raised hands: raised-hand indicators are now visible for audio-only participants.
  • Easier presentation management: new controls allow you to stop screen sharing and upload presentations.
  • Improved accessibility and navigation: better keyboard support for settings and shared notes creates a more accessible experience for all participants.
  • Enhanced breakout rooms: manage lock settings within breakout rooms and inherit settings from the main room.
  • More flexible whiteboard: pan beyond the presenter's view when using the infinite whiteboard.
  • Improved polls and quizzes: notifications are now displayed correctly for participants.
  • More control over online meetings: administrators can now edit or delete the online meetings they created.

You will also benefit from improvements to security, privacy, performance, memory usage and mobile compatibility.

Other changes

  • When your National Support Organisation (NSO) rejects your National Quality Label (NQL) application so that you can make changes, the application is saved with the newly entered information once you resubmit it.
  • On the ‘Teach’ and ‘eTwinning’ landing pages, articles that are not available in the selected language are now displayed in English.

Release 7.12 – 24 June 2026

General

  • After creating or editing an Erasmus+ Mobility post, the 'Preferred partner countries' field now displays the selected countries on the post detail view.

eTwinning

  • The button to change a pupil's password is visible again on pupils’ cards.
  • When applying for a National Quality Label, it is now possible to modify the type of project (eTwinning only or eTwinning and Erasmus+) and add or update the Erasmus+ code when applicable.
  • When submitting an application for the National Quality Label, users are now warned that this step is final and that the application cannot be edited afterwards. Users can now also see the 'Save as draft' option at each step of the application.

Release 7.11 – 27 May 2026

General

  • As of Wednesday 27 May 2026, our course catalogue no longer shows courses published by external providers. Consult our support portal to learn why.
  • When trying to enrol in or apply for a course while not logged in, the action is now correctly and directly applied after authenticating via EU Login.
  • In the partner search, when setting the posting type filter, it is possible again to select another option in this filter.
  • Section titles on translated pages are now correctly shown in the 'Page contents' block in the translated language rather than in English.
  • After clicking 'Accept' or 'Reject' on a group invitation, the invitation notification is now also removed in edge cases.
  • If an organisation is a duplicate of another organisation (i.e. has the same email address) and has no members, it gets deleted in this release. This makes it easier to find the right organisation to join.
  • When trying to edit a non-eTwinning organisation as the organisation's administrator, the Edit page now shows up as expected.
  • The breadcrumb of practice articles, part of the Discover area, now displays the correct area.

eTwinning

  • Several eTwinning-validated schools were missing the date of validation, which had an impact on their ability to apply for the eTwinning School label. These organisations now have the correct validation date set.
  • Replies to polls in TwinSpaces and groups are now cut off in case they are too long. This ensures that all replies to the poll are displayed, rather than only the long reply.

Release 7.10 – 29 April 2026

General

  • When creating an organisation, the organisation's email address must now be unique. If the email address is the same as that of another organisation, you will see an error message.
  • Users who created an organisation in the past but were not linked to it due to a previous technical issue will now be linked to the organisation they created (unless someone else has joined the organisation in the meantime).
  • When searching for schools and other organisations in the Connect area, results now only include organisations if your exact keywords are present in the organisation’s title and/or description. You can separate different search phrases with commas.
  • When using eTranslation, pop-overs with explanations and field placeholders are now translated.

eTwinning

  • In the Partner search in the Connect area, it is now possible again to set the Posting type filter to 'eTwinning project idea'. When applying an eTwinning quick filter, you can also switch the Posting type filter back to any other value.

  • The breadcrumbs of the eTwinning School label winners lists now display the correct year.

Release 7.9 – 25 March 2026

General

  • When creating or editing an organisation, the organisation email address must now be unique.
  • Specific special characters can be used again in the organisation fields.

  • Classifications for partner finding posts (such as 'Partners for mobility activities') are now consistently displayed for all posts.

eTwinning

  • When an eTwinning School label application is reviewed by a National Support Organisation, the email is now sent at the end of the period, unless the user has the right to reapply.
  • When creating or editing an eTwinning project idea, it is possible again to set the expiration date up to six months in the future.
  • On the Winners list of the European Quality label, sorting is now consistent between result pages.
  • When the original creator of a page in a TwinSpace is anonymised, this no longer removes the author information from all page revisions.

Release 7.8 – 4 March 2026

General

  • Accounts of users whose registration date from the previous platform was overwritten on first login to the new platform now have their original registration date reinstated.
  • Cases where users have no platform ID number are now fixed.

  • It is no longer possible to move courses or Erasmus+ posts from draft to published if the linked organisation is not sanity-checked.
  • Automatic logout now redirects users to the home page instead of a page with a 'no access' message.
