Description

Duration: 5 days (flexible for Erasmus+ mobility)

“Engage and Inspire: Artistic Strategies in Education” invites educators to unlock students’ creativity by weaving artistic processes into everyday teaching. Through hands-on explorations of drama, movement, music, and visual storytelling, participants discover how to craft multisensory lessons that deepen engagement, spark imagination, and reinforce core academic concepts. Grounded in embodied learning theory and supported by real-world exemplars, teachers will learn to adapt artistic techniques—such as role-play simulations, rhythmic patterning, and storyboard sequencing—to diverse subjects and learner profiles. By the end of the course, educators will possess a flexible repertoire of arts-infused activities, assessment approaches, and reflective prompts to cultivate vibrant, student-centered classrooms where creativity and content learning thrive in harmony.

Learning objectives

By the end of “Engage and Inspire: Artistic Strategies in Education,” participants will be able to:

  1. Design and implement at least two multisensory lesson activities—such as role-play simulations or rhythmic patterning exercises—that align with core academic standards and engage diverse learning styles.
  2. Apply drama-based techniques (e.g., tableau, hot-seating) to deepen students’ comprehension of complex concepts and stimulate critical inquiry.
  3. Integrate musical elements—like call-and-response chants or pulse-based movement—into classroom routines to enhance memory retention and foster a dynamic learning atmosphere.
  4. Utilize visual storytelling strategies, including storyboard sequencing and sketch-noting, to support student reflection and metacognitive dialogue about their learning processes.
  5. Develop an assessment framework combining performance-based tasks and reflective self-assessments to evaluate both creative expression and content mastery.

Methodology & assessment

Methodology
Participants engage in immersive, arts-based workshops combining live demonstrations, collaborative ensemble activities, and guided reflections. Through scaffolded practice, educators experiment with drama, music, movement, and visual storytelling techniques, then co-design lesson prototypes in peer teams. Video excerpts of exemplar arts-infused classrooms and brief case discussions provide context and inspiration.

Assessment
Learners submit a compact “arts integration” lesson plan featuring two distinct artistic strategies, accompanied by both a performance-based student activity outline and a reflective self-assessment prompt. Peer review during workshop sessions and facilitator feedback on final submissions ensure that plans effectively balance creative engagement with academic objectives.

Materials, digital tools & other learning resources

Participants will access a centralized digital learning hub containing:

  • Core Course Packet: Downloadable readings on embodied learning theory, case studies of effective arts integration, and step-by-step activity guides.
  • Technique Tutorials: Short video demonstrations of drama exercises (tableau, hot-seating), musical routines, movement prompts, and visual-storytelling methods.
  • Multimedia Asset Library: High-quality audio tracks for classroom chants and musical exercises, image sets for sketch-noting, and royalty-free sound effects for dramatic simulations.
