Getting knowing your country

Created by ATHANASIA ZAFEIROPOULOU

During the 1st classes' live event on 01 December, we had an icebreaking activity, a mind storming using mentimeters to detect our students' ideas about their partners and we had come up with these:

.

statistics-1-3-words-that-come-up-to-your-mind-about-lithuania

.

statistics-1-3-words-that-come-up-to-your-mind-about-serbia

statistics-1-3-words-that-come-up-to-your-mind-about-Tunisia

(*about the statistics and the difference in the number of the students that had voted: the students did not vote for their own country and b) in some classes the students had voted using the same account  which explains why in each poll the number of votes is different from the number of participants)

In that event, students asked for some more info about the partner countries and we had decided on bilateral presentations using infographics that have some basic info

So, the Greek team will present Tunisia, the Tunisian teams will present Lithuania, the Lithuanian team will present Serbia and the Serbian team will present Greece.

Students' productions will be uploaded to this page (collaborative work in our classes)

Basic directions

a) For each country, there will be a google slide created by a teacher and shared with the pupils to edit.

The info that we need to be added is:

  • flag/motto / anthem/currency/emblems
  • capital city
  • Location/population map in the world
  • Typical food, traditional breakfast, recipes
  • Products of the country
  • National sport or champion
  • Famous places, cities, and monuments to visit
  • Famous people ( writer, poet, singer, actress, philosopher .........)
  • Greetings; Welcome, hello, goodbye, thank you
  • History ( important dates)
  • Interesting facts about the country's scores in SDGs (source: https://unstats.un.org/sdgs/dataportal )
  • Important dates mainly in recent history (20th and 21st century)

b) On plenary the students create 5 questions (multiple choice) for the country they had studied and the teacher adds the questions on this google doc (link here to edit)  so that the admin can create a quiz with all the 20 questions that we will gather for all the countries

c) On the discussion of this page the students can ask for help from their peers or comment on something of their country's presentation that is not accurate

Final production: An admin teacher creates the quiz and a puplication as final production with all the 4 google slides
