This course aims to familiarise participants with the potential of AI and data-driven learning for the language and CLIL classroom
Description
Teachers involved in modern language education and/or (co-)teaching in CLIL programmes in secondary and adult/vocational education will be trained how to design learning activities using AI-based digital tools and methodologies to support the development of relevant (language) learning skills such as:
- noticing and memorizing formulaic language, subject terminology and/or academic & genre features.
- reading, writing and speaking in the language / CLIL classroom

Learning objectives
- Participants become familiar with the potential of AI and the use of specifically designed corpora and related applications & methodologies to facilitate language and CLIL teaching and learning, also with a view to compensating for limitations of AI.
- Delegates learn how to find and select appropiate input materials and develop learning activities & materials to support reading skills, lexicogrammar competence development and productive skills development
- Participants learn how to effectively interact with generative general and dedicated AI applications and know how to support learner training with respect to AI and corpus-based tools to promote self-regulated learning
Methodology & assessment
A pre-course, online questionnaire could be provided to assess pre-knowledge and further align course content and procedures to needs and interests.
Delegates are requested to bring subject book(s) and/or related ICT materials (if available) to support creating customised materials, applying the concepts and design principles presented.
The professional development approach is based on structured, experiential tasks, peer learning and critical reflection.
Hands-on activities include the exploration of relevant (new) apps and other digital tools/content and by creating learning & teaching activities and related materials.
To provide flexible access to course related tasks and resources collaborative learning platforms will be used.
Assessment
At the end of the week delegates will micro-teach and/or share and discuss lesson activities which they created during the hands-on sessions.

Certification details
Personalised certificates will be made available for those participants who have actively particpated and successfully completed the various course activities including the final course product.
The certificate document holds the key course information including the number of tuition & learning hours and the main topics covered.
