Educators play an essential role in students' lives, as they have the ability to strengthen the bond between school, home, and the wider community, ultimately benefiting the holistic development of their students.
This 5-day training course is designed to equip educators with the knowledge and skills needed to foster positive relationships with students' families and engage the community in the education process. The training will cover best practices, communication strategies, and practical tools to create a more inclusive and supportive educational environment.
Participants will explore the significance of family and community engagement, cultural sensitivity, and innovative approaches to partnership-building. By the end of this training, participants will be better prepared to bridge the gap between school and home, ultimately enhancing student success and overall school improvement.
Learning objectives
The course is designed to empower educators with the knowledge, skills, and strategies they need to build strong connections with families and communities. Effective engagement has a significant impact on student success, and this course will guide educators in establishing positive relationships, involving families in student learning, and leveraging community partnerships and resources.
Specific objectives of the training are:
- Equip teachers with the knowledge and skills necessary to engage effectively with students' families and community stakeholders.
- Foster a more supportive and inclusive educational environment by strengthening the school-community connection, leading to improved student achievement.
- Promote understanding and respect for cultural diversity to create a more inclusive and equitable educational experience.
- Provide strategies and tools for educators to build meaningful partnerships with families, local organizations, businesses, and community leaders.
Methodology & assessment
Through a combination of theory and hands-on activities, teachers will discover effective strategies for building meaningful partnerships with families, local organizations, businesses, and community leaders. Methods such as debate, pair and group work, and individual practical exercises will be used throughout the course.
After the training course, attention will be given to how to implement the findings and skills in real daily working situations.
Materials, digital tools & other learning resources
This course provides educators with interactive materials, digital collaboration tools (Padlet, Trello, Google Workspace), and strategies for building school-community partnerships. Participants engage with case studies, scenario-based exercises, and self-assessment tools to enhance communication and engagement. Toolkits and best practices support event planning, volunteer coordination, and effective collaboration with parents and local organizations.
