Valentina F. from Liceo Mamiani, Italy, reports about the project SAMF

On Tuesday 13th February, in the auditorium of our school, we attended a lecture held by an association called “Panathlon”, and they talked about the project called “SAMF” (sport against match fixing). A volleyball player and a coach were there to present it. They explained that it is a project at European level and told us that there are 30 ambassadors for all Europe.

The project “SAMF” is a project against those people who try to fix matches, of any sport, offering money to players. I believe that the school organised this meeting to make everyone understand that to become a good player we must not use the easy way but we must work hard, and also to make us understand the importance of loyalty in the world of sport.

Firstly, the organisers showed us comics made by them that represented the story of a boy of our age who was offered money to make his football team loose the match. Secondly, they showed us a video where a guy who was offered money for the same reason told about his experience.

The video impressed me a lot because it talks about a real story, and i think this lecture was very useful because the topic wasn’t covered in a boring way and they didn’t say the usual things.
