What is the Olympic Torch Relay?

The Olympic torch relay is the ceremonial relaying of the Olympic flame from Olympia, Greece, to the site of an Olympic Games.

It marks the start of the Olympic Games and transmits a message of peace and friendship along its route.

The Paris 2024 Olympic Torch Relay will start its journey in France on 8 May 2024 with the flame arriving in Marseille ahead of 68 days of travel across the French territories.

Almost 10,000  torchbearers are selected  to spread a message of positivity and enthusiasm across the world.
