Kamishibai (紙芝居 in Japanese) means “Paper Theatre”. It is a story-telling technique of Japanese origin, a sort of travelling theater, originally used by street story-tellers to tell stories to children by sliding illustrated boards into a wooden castle: the butai. Each page depicts an episode of the story, on the front side we find the image and on the back side a short and simple text.
