CULTUR(E)AL DIVERSITY AND INCLUSIVITY PROGRAMME


Day 1
- Individual orientation and information about the venue and the city
- Networking activities
- Course introduction
- Ice-breaking activities
- Teambuilding exercises
- Basic concepts and principles about cultural diversity


Day 2
- Developing a culturally sensitive teaching approach by enhancing relation through emotional intelligence
- Practical work: using Case Study to foster collaboration and cultural awareness among students
- Practical work: activities to foster collaborative work and peer-education among students
- Convivial discussion with former NAM students
Dinner in traditional French restaurant


Day 3
- Strategies to set up policy and practices to support newly arrived migrant students in and outside the classroom : the relevance of school internationalization projects.
- How to implement cross-cultural strategies that foster students' transformational learning experiences: ideas and best practices in what I need to focus on in my teaching approach.
- Practical activities for managing and overcoming cross-cultural communication barriers
- Cultural activities in Chantilly and traditional whipped cream


Day 4
- The importance of empathy :the 10 commandments of incorporating diversity and inclusion in the classroom
- Practicing and delivering activities for setting rules in the classroom
- Review of the 3 Cs (creating close collaboration) : the place of parents and families in the integration process
- School visit : visit of a secondary school located in a multicultural environment

Day 5
- Space for discussion of future cooperation and planning follow up activities
- Course roundup and final evaluation
- Validation of learning outcomes and certificates

Learning objectives

During the course, participants will review the most appropriate strategies to tackle the challenge of cultural diversity and provide the same possibilities to all students regardless of origins and sociocultural backgrounds by:


- developing a culturally sensitive perspective
- getting sensitized about cross-cultural differences and their impact at school
- learning about how to create an inclusive classroom
- reflecting on how to apply their cultural knowledge in their teaching approach
- improving their social awareness on diversity issues
- developing applicable skills and techniques that can be used to establish positive relationships with students.
- apprehending the ever-changing cultural / psychological / social diversity of students to help fostering an academically motivating environment      
- exchanging good practices and sharing experiences about cultural diversity with teachers and education staff experienced in the issue.  

Methodology & assessment

This course is based on participants’ needs and interests related to their areas of teaching and professional development. Designed specifically to ensure interactivity through input sessions, group project and collaborative work, the course will allow participants to be actively involved at each stage of the training.
Led by professionals of education with a real experience of teaching, the course will take the form of hands-on workshops with exchanges of practices, brainstorming, analysis and real case scenario examples, participants will reflect on the tools and strategies that will make an impact in their daily practice. A great emphasis will be therefore put on collaboration and interaction between participants to create relevant resources and projects that each of them will be able to take back to school.

Certification details

 

Each participant will be granted a Certificate of Attendance as well as Certificate of Obtained Competences.  

If requested - a Europass Mobility Certificate will be issued.

We provide participants with help in completing Learning Agreements, as well as any documents necessary for their organisations.

    Transport between one of the Paris airports (Paris Charles de Gaulle, Paris Orly, Paris Beauvais) and the hotel can be organised. Fees will vary according to the number of people and the location of the airport.

    Accommodation can be organized according to your budget and specific requirements. Once the subscription form with all the information is completed, we will provide you with a list of hotels which meet your requirements. 

     

    Cultural visits 

    Cultural visits of Senlis and Paris are included in the training programme. This programme can be changed to meet your expectations.
