The aims are: 

  • Addressing common causes of maths anxiety and equip educators with strategies to help students overcome it. 
  • Providing practical tools and techniques to build students' confidence in mathematics. 
  • Exploring methods for creating a supportive and positive learning environment that encourages a growth mindset in math. 

Learning objectives

Participants will be able to: 

  1. Identify key factors contributing to maths anxiety in students. 
  2. Apply strategies to reduce maths anxiety and build a positive maths culture in their classrooms. 
  3. Implement techniques that foster resilience, confidence, and problem-solving skills in students. 
  4. Use practical classroom activities and exercises that encourage a growth mindset toward learning mathematics. 

  

Methodology & assessment

This tutorial is designed as a flexible, asynchronous activity, allowing participants to engage with the content at their own pace, anytime and anywhere. Each tutorial focuses on a specific classroom or school challenge and takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. The learning experience includes short videos with concrete examples, texts, guidelines and interactive activities. The tutorial concludes with a self-assessment quiz that enables participants to understand their level of understanding and/or readiness for action.

This tutorial is designed for self-paced learning and although it provides valuable insights and activities, it does not include a certification.
