Joint Staff Training - Lienz
During our JST in Lienz we focussed on story-telling. The aim of the JST was to show different ways of storytelling as a teaching method for students of different age groups. For that two external partners were included where storytelling is part of their educational program: one is the National Park Hohe Tauern that has been working with students of the BG / BRG Lienz for many years and is also partner for many other schools in East Tyrol, Salzburg and Carinthia. Their visitor centre close to the highest mountain of Austria, the Großglockner, offers a range of tools and virtual activities to explore the history, fauna and flora of the biggest and first national parks in Austria for students of all age groups and students of the BG / BRG Lienz are regularly taken there. Another partner is Burg Heinfels, a recently restored and newly opened fortress close to the Italian border that excels in recreating the history of this site with many different activities that can easily be used at schools as well, e.g. telling its history by rebuilding the fortress with various small parts of it in order to show how it changed over the decades and centuries. A story that has been co-created by younger students and one teacher and produced as a podcast for official podcast platforms like Spotify etc. was also shown and presented. Furthermore there were introductory presentations on storytelling.
