Resilience in educational contexts: Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s is open for application

Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM) are high-level and integrated study programmes delivered by an international partnership of higher education institutions. FLOURISH is one of these projects, it helps educators in creating resilience-enhancing contexts that give pupils the necessary resources and competences to effectively deal with challenges in their education and development.

The need for practitioners to be educated in resilience has been reported across cultures and regions of the world. There is a particular need to empower children and young people to effectively deal with obstacles and challenges in their education and development such as the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, conflict and forced displacement, migration, and hate crime. This requires a meaningful, relevant, and balanced education for children growing up in adverse and marginalised circumstances by focusing on their strengths and building their assets within protective contexts.

The master’s programme developed by the FLOURISH project aims to address these needs at European and international levels by providing postgraduate, high-quality education on resilience for educators and other practitioners, integrating theory and practice within a strength-based, systemic perspective to education and human development.

This is the first international joint master’s degree in Resilience in educational contexts led by an international consortium of higher educational institutions, providing an opportunity for aspiring leaders in creating resilience-enhancing educational contexts and systems. The project involves four European universities (with University of Malta as the leading partner) and five associated partners in Europe and beyond. The programme runs over seven years with four different editions of the master’s degree.
