World Environment Day
World Environment Day is celebrated annually on 5 June. This date was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 during the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm, Sweden.
The main objective of World Environment Day is to make the world population aware of the importance of preserving and protecting the environment. It is a time to reflect on the environmental challenges we face globally and to promote individual and collective actions to mitigate the negative impacts on the planet.
World Environment Day was marked in the Erasmus+ Outdoor Learning in a Funny Way partner schools in different ways. Each school chose to collaborate with the local community and institutions, marking the date on suitable days. The schools carried out severals plogging activities around the locality, collecting the rubbish they found on the streets while doing physical activity. Also, students joined the challenge of the Centre for Environmental Education and registered their commitment to the Environment on a banner provided by the institution and a photo was taken with students from various classes.
The schools focused on the importance of remembering that caring for the environment should not be limited to a specific day, but should be a constant concern in our lives.
