Fifth common activity: Our Civic Actions - Word Cloud with Mentimeter
Shaping a Better Future: Our Civic Actions in Bee My Friend
As part of our international project Bee My Friend, we recently completed our fifth common activity: Our Civic Actions - Word Cloud with Mentimeter. This activity, led with the valuable contribution of Maria Macera, aimed to engage students in reflecting on civic actions and their role in society by collaboratively creating a word cloud using the interactive tool Mentimeter.
Objectives Achieved
This activity allowed students to:
- Express their understanding of civic actions in a collaborative way.
- Reflect on small yet impactful actions they can take to improve their communities.
- Develop digital skills by using Mentimeter as a participatory tool.
- Strengthen their sense of shared responsibility and active citizenship.
The Challenge
One of the main challenges was ensuring that all students, across different schools and countries, could participate effectively. To address this, we provided clear instructions and encouraged teachers to facilitate discussions before submitting words to the word cloud. Another challenge was guiding students to think beyond generic terms and focus on concrete, meaningful civic actions.
Final Goals
The ultimate goal of this activity was to create a collective visual representation of what active citizenship means to our students. The word cloud served as a powerful reminder of their role in shaping a better society. By fostering discussions and engagement, this activity contributed to the overall objectives of the Bee My Friend project: empowering students to be responsible citizens who take initiative in their communities.
We are thrilled with the participation and enthusiasm shown by our students and look forward to the next collaborative activity in our journey towards active citizenship!
