In Lisbon, capital of Portugal, the Tagus River plays a crucial role in the water supply. It flows through the city and empties into the Atlantic Ocean. The river's estuary is an important ecological area, providing habitat for a diverse range of plant and animal species. However, the river has been affected by pollution from industrial and urban activities, which has led to environmental degradation affecting the ocean quality. Therefore, the city/country has implemented policies to protect the river, promote sustainable water management practices and protect the ocean as well. These policies have helped to improve the water quality in the river and protect the ecosystems and the ocean. So how are the ocean and river protected and which actions are taken for a sustainable future? The answers can be found in the legacy of water: traditional fishing methods, sanitation of wastewater, tourism, sports, research on micro-plastics, urban water distribution but also in the legacy of Avieiros (the river-people). The participants, linked to formal school education, are expected to discuss the perspectives of water, having in mind how to create a future generation that is more conscious of their water usage and more likely to take steps to protect nature and water.

• Course fee: 510 euros per person. It includes the course fee, entry tickets where needed, and transportation within the working days of the course. Airport transport and accommodation are not included. Please, take into consideration that sending institutions should have insurance coverage for their participants as stated in the Erasmus+ Quality Standards for Mobilities.
