Toolkit for identifying and monitoring students and schools at risk of early school leaving (RESL.eu)

The toolkit focuses on early school leaving and shows how data that is often naturally collected at school (e.g. administrative data) can be used to identify learners at risk of disengaging with school. The process of systematic data collection and analysis can help prevent early school leaving and re-engage young people with school by providing them with appropriate care and support.
It also features an assessment tool for gathering information about students’ attitudes, beliefs, and family situations that is relevant to their school engagement and educational success. This is a useful exercise as these factors cannot be determined based on the administrative data already gathered by the school.
The toolkit also provides information about other valuable projects, tools, and resources to help tackle early school leaving.
The toolkit is targeted at school staff including head teachers, teachers, counsellors, tutors, and psychologists, but it can also be used by other educational specialists involved in education policies and alternative learning pathways.
The project was funded by the European Commission (FP7).
