Methodology & assessment
Materials, digital tools & other learning resources
The "Social Emotional Learning (SEL)" course equips educators with strategies to foster emotional intelligence, empathy, and interpersonal skills in their students. Materials include resources on the five core components of SEL: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. These are introduced through engaging methods such as role-playing, empathy exercises, and collaborative projects, encouraging hands-on application.
Tools such as an "Emotion Wheel" and "Cultural Iceberg" visuals help participants grasp abstract concepts like emotional identification and cultural awareness. Techniques like mindfulness exercises, active listening practices, and scenario analyses provide practical methods for managing emotions, resolving conflicts, and making ethical decisions. Each session is enriched with activities that simulate real-life challenges, fostering skills applicable to diverse educational settings.
Reflection activities, quizzes, and group discussions ensure participants consolidate their learning while developing action plans to implement SEL in their classrooms. By integrating interactive and reflective practices, the course emphasizes the importance of empathy, ethical reasoning, and effective communication as essential pillars of an inclusive and emotionally supportive educational environment.
