PODCASTS FOR ORAL SUCCESS: GIVING VOICE TO STUDENT LEARNING IN REYKJAVÍK (ICELAND)
This is a 6-day Erasmus training course from Sunday to Friday. The course refers to a broad range of teaching strategies which engage students as active participants in their learning process during class time with their instructor. Typically, these strategies involve some amount of students working together during class, but may also involve individual work and/or reflection.
Description
This training will introduce podcasting as a valuable and transversal tool to improve oral skills in the classroom. Podcasts and web radios are becoming more popular so it´s no surprise that audio narratives can help educators to strengthen oral communication.
Teachers will learn how to create, record, and edit podcasts, and discover how podcasts can be used to develop students’ oral communication skills, creativity, and critical thinking. The course will focus on leveraging podcasts to improve speaking, listening, and presentation skills, fostering self-expression, and enhancing student engagement.
Through hands-on practice and real-world examples, teachers will gain confidence in integrating podcasting into their teaching methods, while exploring ways to make learning fun, dynamic, and collaborative
Learning objectives
In detail, the specific objectives of the course are:
- To find the best software to record and edit a podcast
- To publish podcasts live on social media or keep them privately.
- To incorporate place-based engaging activities in their lessons.
- To understand the value of communication.
- To strengthen European collaboration among –past, present and future– participants.
Thanks to this course the participants will:
- Learn how to use podcasts to enhance oral skills
- Discover new techniques to improve, motivate and infuse passion into art and technology
- Construct audio-stories with structures and vital plot points
- Build confidence and self-esteem.
- Make contacts with new partners interested in developing European Projects through specific networking activities.
Methodology & assessment
Troughout the training, the teachers will have interactive workshops to work on creating their own podcasts starting with simple tasks like scripting and recording short segments. This learning-by-doing approach ensures they understand the technical aspects and creative processes.
The focus will be on experimenting with various podcast formats such as solo recordings, interviews, group discussions, and storytelling to expose teachers to a variety of formats they can later adapt for their students.
Materials, digital tools & other learning resources
The company will provide the majority of materials to participants and all the course contents will be shared in a digital format. Regarding this, participants' digital tools will be improved and there will be any doubts about sharing the materials. Actually, a Google Drive access will be given to participants, so they can download everything that has been receiving during the training time. Furthermore, monitoring and mentoring arrangements will take place during and after the course.
Certification details
The Project Management Society Erasmus Plus holding group fulfills the Erasmus requirements about having a seat in the country where the course takes places and the group provides a local subsidiary company in this country. ICELAND OID: E10274031
The company sends the Learning Agreement document at the moment of the registration in the course, providing you an attendance 35-hour certificate from Sunday to Friday, which includes all necessary details. A 5 or 7-day CA can be created upon request

Course package content:
The cost of the course includes course fees, a free guided city tour, transportation for the training activities if this is necessary, and, obviously, the certification of attendance is included as well. The company offers guidance and will help with all necessary documents that the participant can need. Accommodation, meals and transport to the venue is not included in the course fees but an optional cultural package is offered to deepen the local culture.

Cancellation & changes:
Cancellations and Reimbursements of course fees are detailed in the booking confirmation document, but summarizing:.
- If participants cancel at least 4 weeks before the beginning of the course, the company will refund the entire amount, minus 20% of the course fee. In another case, the participant will be allowed to join another course/session in the following 12 months.
- In case of unforeseen circumstances (force majeure), the participant will receive a full reimbursement of the course fees.
