Methodology & assessment
We examine how communicative language teaching can be used to give meaning to learning by emphasizing the need for interaction. We show participants how to implement learning strategies to enhance language acquisition and give purpose to learning. Classroom activities, such as role-playing, interviews, games and surveys, are carried out in pairs and small groups, requiring debate, negotiation and compromise.
Pronunciation and intonation
Pronunciation practice is exciting, interesting and meaningful. As a neglected skill in language teaching, we bring it back into the classroom to show how beneficial it is in enabling students to speak better. Pronunciation is essential for improving listening skills and making oneself understood. No matter how good one's grammatical skills, vocabulary knowledge and general fluency, misunderstandings can arise when pronunciation is imprecise.
Task-based learning
Instead of focusing on the acquisition of grammar, we show participants how to concentrate on the use of authentic language and how to give students the opportunity to exchange information by focusing on meaning.
TICE
Through examples, discussion, analysis and practice, participants will discover the many ways in which ICTE can be integrated into everyday teaching to develop their confidence in managing and using these tools in the language classroom.
