This course is designed for :
- Non-native speakers who teach French to students aged 15 and over
- It is also suitable for teachers of Business French and French for Specific Purposes
- Primary school teachers can participate in this course with reference to older primary school pupils preparing for secondary education.
Description
Course objectives:
- Improve personal mastery of French
- Provide an overview of current language teaching methodologies
- Improve language teaching practice through a variety of techniques and methodological approaches
- Learn about the evolution of the French language

Methodology & assessment
The key concept is communication. We use task-based and cooperative approaches to create a positive learning environment where the emphasis is on practical classroom activities. All aspects of the French language are covered - speaking, listening, reading, writing and mediating, as well as pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar activities through a variety of media.
Methodology - Communicative language teaching module
We examine how communicative language teaching can be used to give meaning to learning, with an emphasis on interaction and the use of a variety of media, including new technologies.
Task-based learning
We show participants how to focus on the use of authentic language, and how to give students the opportunity to exchange information with a focus on meaning.
