LET’S BOOK TRAILERS@SCHOOL. Innovative Methods To Engage Students, Promote Reading And Enhance Literacy And Digital Skills
The idea of this training course was born thanks to the expertise of JUMP in cooperating in European projects that promote innovative approaches to integrate the promotion of reading – facing the urgent need of nowadays students to improve literacy skills – with the development of digital skills, which are both important priorities for the 21st century.
Description

This course combines reading promotion with digital skills through the innovative use of book trailers. Based on JUMP’s experience in European projects, it helps teachers engage students in reading using short, creative videos. Book trailers, like movie previews, present the essence of a book and spark interest in a fun, digital format. Teachers will learn to guide students in planning, filming, and editing their own trailers using free online tools, music, voiceovers, and more. This method enhances literacy, media skills, creativity, and motivation while fostering active learning. The training covers all steps of video production, adapted to different age groups and educational levels. Teachers will gain tools to create engaging reading labs, promote media literacy, and help students become active content creators, not just passive consumers.
Learning objectives
- Improving the understanding and awareness about Media Education/Literacy and the importance and relevance of its use in nowadays school system

- Fostering creativity and ability to engage students with innovative methodologies that promote collaboration and active participation

Methodology & assessment
Furthermore, in line with the JUMP Academy method, our courses are based on a strategic balance between formal and non-formal education, indoor and outdoor education and the team takes care of a very important aspect of international mobility which is the intercultural learning which we develop with short excursions and facilitating the interaction with local partners, businesses and citizens of our territory. Each local context has its own economy so it’s always useful, in training programs, to get in contact with concrete examples (experiential learning and real based learning).
We always try to connect our learners to local teachers and students to cooperate in developing innovation and networking for future projects.
