Description

This course helps educators integrate the mBot robot into STEM education across subjects like maths, physics, and biology. Designed for beginners, mBot allows students to build a robot from scratch, encouraging creativity, logical thinking, and problem-solving through hands-on learning.
Participants will explore block-based programming, sensors, and core robotics concepts while understanding how real-world applications can simplify complex ideas. The course demonstrates how mBot can support student engagement, from programming simple movements to creating interactive tasks.
By the end, teachers will be equipped with strategies to bring coding and robotics into the classroom through engaging, accessible, and meaningful activities.

Learning objectives

Understand the value of hands-on learning in fostering engagement and comprehension in STEM education;
Design and implement hands-on STEM activities using the mBot platform;
Integrate mBot technology into STEM lessons, demonstrating basic programming and functional application;
Apply engineering principles and design thinking through mBot-based problem-solving tasks;
Create STEM projects that promote critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity;
Plan for the integration of mBot activities within existing curricula across educational contexts;
Collaborate with peers to exchange best practices and experiences using mBot in the classroom;
Enhance digital competencies and communication skills in English;
Promote European values and cross-cultural exchange.

These objectives aim to equip educators with practical skills and pedagogical strategies to enrich STEM education through innovative, hands-on learning with mBot.

Methodology & assessment

TRAINING DEVELOPMENT

The training methodology is underpinned by EU values, promoting equal opportunities and non-discrimination principles, with the goal of enhancing participants' skills and enabling knowledge dissemination. Our educational practices follow the Erasmus+ KA1 Quality Standards and our Certification from Portugal's Ministry of Education, valid since 2001.
• The methodology encompasses theoretical sessions, simulated practices and participatory activities, incorporating digital tools/resources and supporting materials tailored to each course.
• Pedagogical methods may include focus group, learning, peer activities inspired by project-based approaches (Dewey and Kilpatrick), sharing best practices, collaborative processes, roleplaying, case studies and field visits.

ASSESSMENT

Assessment is based on active participation in activities, a final presentation of a project or output. All material is shared within the group, consolidating the pedagogical activities’ outcomes.

Materials, digital tools & other learning resources

The course takes place in high-quality training rooms, equipped with WiFi and an outstanding coffee break. Participants are required to bring their own laptop or tablet in order to install and use applications during the course. All other learning materials and resources will be provided by the organisation, ensuring an immersive and effective learning experience. These may include printed manuals, digital resources, physical materials, access to e-libraries and interactive digital tools.

Certification follows Erasmus+ KA1 Quality Standards, ensuring recognition across Europe, as well as our Certification from Portugal's Ministry of Education.

Cancellations up to 40 days before the course starts are free of charge and require written notice.
After this period, you may choose to reschedule (no extra cost) or provide a replacement participant or request a refund (€100 administrative fee per participant deducted from the total amount).
