EMPOWERING DIVERSITY IN MULTICULTURAL CLASSROOMS 5 DAYS
This course is aimed at teachers and all those who are interested in diversity and how culture shapes our identity as well as how to create a sense of mutual respect and belonging in their classroom. Participants are expected to have at least B1 level of English proficiency.
Description
The course consists of 25 didactic hours and includes the following modules:
- Introduction of participants, outline of the programme, warm ups and ice breakers
- Defining culture, individual differences within cultures and dynamic nature of culture
- Exploring cultural identity and building relationships in a multicultural group
- Identifying and addressing discrimination from individual and social perspective
- Questioning techniques for challenging assumptions and stereotypes
- Creating learning-friendly environment for meaningful learning in multicultural classroom
- Establishing ground rules for group learning in multicultural classroom
- Individual support
- Presentation of outcomes, discussion, evaluation and closing session
- Teambuilding and networking activities
- City tour or a cultural trip
Learning objectives
- Broadening the understanding of culture, identity, diversity, marginalization and belonging.
- Broadening the understanding of discrimination and conflict in intercultural context.
- Acquisition of exercises and techniques for classroom and project work to facilitate learning-friendly environment where everybody feels they belong and they are safe.
- Acquisition questioning techniques for challenging assumptions and stereotypes.
- Developing communication, collaboration, presentation, problem solving, negotiation, critical and creative thinking skills.
- Providing and exercising creative ideas and practical resources for successful implementation of art and game-based activities to support inclusion in classroom.
- Improving English fluency (official language of the course).
- Promoting intercultural awareness.

All the materials will be made available to the participants in digital form upon completion of the course.
Certification details
Certificate includes the topic, dates and location of the course. We can list the record of learning outcomes on the Europass Mobility Document on request of participants.

Course package content:
The course fee includes tution and materials for the course. Accommodation, meals and transportation are not included and participants are expected to organize and cover for these expenses by themselves. We do not charge anything extra apart from the 400 EUR course fee.

Cancellation & changes:
Free cancellation up to 30 days before the start. After that, the reservation is not refundable. Changes in name and profile of the participant are possible any time before the start of the course. In case of extraordinary circumstances we will offer a free re-schedualing to be used within 6 months.
