During this course you will get insights into the Finnish education system and learn how environmental awareness is integrated into the Finnish core curriculum. You will get hands-on experience of the various pedagogical methods used in Finnish schools.  You will explore sustainable development, biodiversity and responsible consumption in engaging ways. A highlight of the course is a visit to a Finnish school, offering a firsthand look at how environmental education is put into action. The course includes outdoor learning and team-building activities in Finnish nature. Join us for a week of inspiration, practical ideas, and collaboration as we empower educators for a sustainable future.

Learning objectives

During this course you will

  • become familiar with the Finnish education system and teacher training.
  • explore the role of environmental education in Finnish core curriculum. 
  • get practical insights into environmental education practices through a school visit to Finnish schools.
  • examine the sustainable development goals and learn practical strategies to teach sustainable development in engaging ways.
