Description

How do we move students from being passive recipients of information to active creators of their own knowledge? The answer lies in Project-Based Education (PBE). This course provides a comprehensive and practical roadmap for implementing PBE in your classroom, regardless of your subject or grade level.

You will learn the entire project cycle: from crafting a compelling driving question to designing authentic assessments. We will explore strategies for managing student teams, scaffolding complex tasks, and integrating technology effectively. Through hands-on workshops, you will design a PBE unit ready to be implemented in your own classroom. Leave with the skills and confidence to create engaging, real-world learning experiences that develop critical thinking, collaboration, and a deep love for learning in your students.

Learning objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

 - Understand the essential elements and pedagogical principles of high-quality Project-Based Education (PBE).

 - Design an authentic, standards-aligned PBE unit, complete with a driving question, key assessments, and a project timeline.

 - Develop effective strategies for managing student teams, scaffolding tasks, and fostering student collaboration.

 - Utilize various assessment methods (formative and summative) suitable for project-based work.

 - Create a classroom culture that encourages inquiry, critical thinking, and student voice and choice.

Methodology & assessment

This course is designed as a hands-on, project-based learning experience for educators. Participants will learn the PBE methodology by actively engaging in it themselves. The training is structured as an intensive workshop where you will work in collaborative teams to design a complete PBE unit from start to finish.

The trainer acts as a facilitator, providing expert guidance, resources, and continuous feedback. Assessment is based on the quality and completeness of the final PBE unit plan and the participant's active collaboration throughout the design process. All participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

Materials, digital tools & other learning resources

This course provides a complete digital Project-Based Education (PBE) design toolkit. This includes project planning canvases, assessment rubrics, and student handout templates. We will use online project management and collaboration platforms during the workshops. Participants will leave with their own fully developed digital project plan and access to an online community for PBE educators.

Certification details

Upon successful completion of the course, all participants will receive a formal Certificate of Attendance from Erasmus Mobility Academy. The certificate will officially state: the participant's full name, the full course title, the course dates and location, the main topics covered, and the total number of educational hours (25 hours), corresponding to this application form. The document will be signed by the head trainer and will serve as proof of participation for the Erasmus+ Programme.
