Winners in the Competition for a Mathematical Experiment

Primary School No. 11 with Integration Branches in Białystok, Poland, and the Centre for Creative Learning of Mathematics at the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Bialystok, Poland have organized the fourth edition of the Competition for a Mathematical Experiment.

 

The competition is international. Participants of the competition are students of primary
schools, grades VI-VIII, and secondary schools who want to learn mathematics by doing research.

Aims of the competition:
- popularization of mathematics, forming and strengthening an interest in mathematics,
- raising interest of students in the research method and self-discovery of the laws that govern the world,
- showing maths from the creative and searching side, not only awaiting its passive absorption by students.

 

Two students from Colegiul Național Emil Racoviță participated in the fourth edition of the competition:

  1. Andrei Burcă with the experiment Modelling of Forest Fires
  2. Miruna Maria Hangan with the experiment  Coding numbers with beads (Gravity Calculator).

Both students are among the winners (in the secondary students category): Andrei won the 1st prize while Miruna won the 2nd prize. Congratulations to the winners!
