What is e-Safety?
E-Safety refers to the measures taken to stay safe online and to protect children from the various cyber issues that come with using the internet.e-Safety may also be referred to as “internet safety”, “online safety” or “web safety”.

e-Safety is concerned with protecting children and young people in the digital world and emphasizes the importance of using new technologies in a positive way.e-Safety is about education about the risks and benefits rather than restriction, so that we can be confident online.e-Safety supports children to develop safer online behaviors both in and out of school.

What schools need to do with e-safety is to support children to engage in productive and creative social learning through Web technologies, while protecting them from a range of harms (Sharples, Graber, Harrison, & Logant, 2009).

What is Copyright?

Firstly, E-safety is often defined as the safe and responsible use of technology. This includes the use of the internet and also other means of communication using electronic media (eg text messages, gaming devices, email etc).

In practice, e-safety is as much about behaviour as it is electronic security. E-safety in this context is classified into three areas of risk:

Content: being exposed to illegal, inappropriate or harmful material

Contact: being subjected to harmful online interaction with other users

Conduct: personal online behaviour that increases the likelihood of, or causes, harm.to protect and educate pupils and staff in their use of technology

to have the appropriate mechanisms to intervene and support any incident where appropriate.
