Utena Adolfas Šapoka Gymnasium is an upper secondary/ high school located in Utena, which is the centre of the district and the centre of the county of Utena. The school was founded in 1996. In 1997 it was named after historian Adolfas Šapoka.  In 1997 the school was awarded the status of  gymnasium.  The main goal is to provide the students with qualitative upper-secondary education. The majority of our students (around 80%) enter universities (in Lithuania and abroad) after finishing school.

There are around 400 students depending on the school year. The school has been rated high on the national rating scale since it was founded. The achievements of the students are also quite high in the National exams. Many of them actively and successfully participate in national and regional contests, olympiads, music and sports events and take prize places. The teachers are active members of the educational community. They are co-authors of textbooks and teaching materials, they work as markers in state exams and participate in national and international projects. There are around 46 teachers this school year. (Seven teachers are experts, around thirty teachers are methodologists.)

The school is well provided with equipment and teaching materials. There are four IT classrooms, a spacious library and a reading room, two physics rooms, two chemistry rooms and a laboratory, two biology rooms and a laboratory, a gym and a fitness room, a specially designed room for choreography, two rooms to teach technologies and so on. Side by side with compulsory subjects, the students can choose from a variety of optional subjects, for example, Applied Economics, Psychology, Integrated Ecology and Healthy Lifestyle, Latin, the third foreign language and some other subjects. The school has been cooperating with many Lithuanian educational institutions.
