Ecosystem Services: Cultural Services.

                                          03 Foreign  Languages B1

The classes were conducted during English lessons in a group of 13 students aged 14-15. The students represented level B1.

The classes consisted of three 45-minute lessons. In the first lesson, students did a reading comprehension assignment on Cultural Ecosystem Services (CES) and the non-material benefits people obtain from nature. Then the students discussed in pairs what cultural ecosystem services the text describes and tried to give examples from their own experience. Students in groups made mind maps on which they presented the scheme of cultural ecosystem services.

During the next lesson, the students watched videos of various children's games and activities. While watching, they wrote down in English the names of the childrens’ games and the names of the plants and animals they saw.

Working in pairs, they recalled and discussed what nature-related games they played in their childhood. At home, they prepared additional information about childhood games and activities and presented it in the form of a presentation.

There were two parts to the activity. In the first part, the students divided into three groups (two
groups of 3 students and one of four) had to identify an ecosystem of the Zamora region of Aliste
and make a presentation about it. The ecosystems chosen by the students were two riverbank
ecosystems and a pine forest.

The classes were conducted during English lessons in a group of 13 students aged 14.
