Divide, Add, Multiply, Subtract, Equals, Life

Mathematics should not be seen as a branch of science consisting of only four operations. Mathematics is life itself. When Hezarfen Ahmed Çelebi threw himself into the void from the Galata Tower, he knew very well that mathematical calculations would keep him alive. Nowadays, countries are in fierce competition for the welfare of their citizens. This competition is reflected in individuals at every level of society in daily life. When viewed from this perspective, it becomes clear why learning Mathematics, which is directly related to the quality of technology and living standards, is important. Because it is not easy to talk about development, economy, science and technological progress in a country without Mathematics education. A normal person may encounter and need mathematical skills at any time in their daily life. Many subjects such as counting, reading time, paying for shopping, weighing and measuring, understanding simple graphs and diagrams, and performing arithmetic operations are among the basic concepts of Mathematics. Prof. Dr. Mehmet BEKDEMİR, in his article titled ''The Nature of Mathematics and Its Place in Education'', said, ''Without mathematical literacy, it is not possible to be a member of a developed democratic society neither today nor tomorrow. "Because many wonders of civilization, from industry to technology, are indebted to Mathematics."
