The Democratic School "in My Dream”

In the world and in Turkey, the democratic processes in the schools aren’t well-run. Students are passive in decision-making processes. That situation has been revealed within the scope of many studies as a problem while transfering in-school democracy culture to social life(Bıyık, 2019; Şişman, 2010). The most striking data on the subject is revealed by the Council of Europe's "Democratic Citizenship Education" project(http://www.coe/int.edc, 2010). These studies indicate us that, the educational environments are generally teacher-centered, technology use is undertaken by the teacher, teachers have an authoritarian attitude, they do not have enough information about “children’s right to participate” and the use of that right is operated in a ostensible way at school. On the other hand, it is clear that the emergence of a democratic society will be achieved by the establishment and operation of a democratic culture in schools. This can only be achieved with the active participation of students in this process.
