Analysis of Initial Questionnaire Results for BEE MY FRIEND Project
In February, an initial questionnaire was administered to the students participating in the BEE MY FRIEND project, yielding a total of 522 responses. The gender distribution among the respondents was 57.6% male and 42.4% female. The age breakdown was as follows: 55.9% of the students were between 5 and 7 years old, 39% were between 8 and 10 years old, and 5.1% were between 11 and 13 years old.
Regarding their expectations for the project, a significant majority, 83.1%, reported having high expectations. Additionally, 13.6% of the students expressed a desire to learn many new things, while 3.4% were primarily interested in making new friends.
A striking finding from the questionnaire was the general lack of awareness about bees and their importance. A substantial 89.8% of the students did not know the risks faced by bees or why they are important, compared to only 10.2% who had this knowledge. Furthermore, 93.2% were unaware of what threatens bees, with just 6.8% indicating that they were informed. Similarly, 96.6% of the students did not know what actions they could take to help bees, while only 3.4% were aware of possible measures.
Despite this lack of awareness, there was a unanimous commitment to the project, with 100% of the children and teenagers expressing their willingness to fully engage and ensure the project's success. This strong commitment is a positive indicator of the project's potential impact and the enthusiasm among the participants to learn and contribute actively.
