It is a fact that our social lives, ways of communication and interaction have fundamentally changed since the rise of the internet. Because of technological devices, new forms of communication are utilised where social media stands a main medium instead of face to face human interaction. And all these bring out new addictions. Observations and research show that today’s ‘netizens’ are becoming addicted to using those technological gadgets day by day. As educators, it is inevitable that we should work on the causes and negative consequences of this addiction. In our project we will determine the following issues: the beginning age of using smart phones and social media, the reasons, the group influenced, their social and their economic status by applying surveys, articles and research programs. In addition, we aim to find out how long and in what circumstances the youngsters use social media and smart phones to suggest alternative ways of using smart phones and social media effectively as an educational tool. ‘Our motto is’ Smiling at each other instead of smart screens’
